I had an early start today to catch the sunrise at Angkor Wat, and it didn't disappoint. Three days in a row visiting temples can get a bit intense, but I'm happy I left the main ones for the very end. Angkor Wat is by far the most preserved from the temple complex. The level of detail of the bas reliefs found on the walls around the temple is astonishing. I finished my 3-day visit with Bayon temple, 2nd star of Angkor Wat.

The second day in Angkor Wat was as amazing as the first one. I continue to be mind blown by how big this temple complex is. I changed the bicycle for a tuk tuk today, an easier means of transportation for the scorching hot days in Siem Reap. I visited the famous Ta Prohm temple (aka Tomb Raider temple), and sticked till late in Pre Rup temple, where I was rewarded with a beautiful sunset.

After some research I convinced myself to get a 3-day pass instead the usual 1-day pass for Angkor Wat. The price difference is not that big, and there is sooo much to see that I think it's totally worth it. I did this first day by bicycle, visiting the small temples of the "big circuit", leaving the very best for last.

Today I took a well deserved chill day after the long journey from southern Laos. I took the time to walk around and explore this beautiful city, recharging my energies to visit Angkor Wat tomorrow, the main attraction of Siem Reap, and even of all of Cambodia.

I said goodbye to Laos after more than 2 weeks, definitely longer that I thought I would. I loved this country, and its super laid-back culture. After about 10 hours in transit I arrived to Siem Reap, home of the world renowned and biggest temple complex: Angkor Wat.

There is a bridge connecting Don Det with Don Khon, another island on the south. These islands are perfect to be explored by bicycle. You'll meet plenty of friendly locals, waving kids, and water buffalos along the way. Pick one of the bars at the East side of the island to catch an awesome sunset.

The Mekong Irrawaddy dolphin is an endangered species, with less than 100 individuals remaining. From those, only 3 can be found in the southern Laos. When I learned this, I decided to do the full-day waterfall tour. It consisted of kayaking in the Mekong river, going to two massive waterfall, and the highlight of the tour, seeing the dolphins. Quite an intense but awesome day.
